According to information available on the foundation's website, the national premiere of the film, and the launch of the book "no longer with the memory but with its future", will be accompanied by a conversation with the artist.

The film, whose title alludes to a poem by Agostinho Neto, leader of the anti-colonial struggle and the first president of Angola after independence, was the centerpiece of the artist's exhibition "no longer with the memory but with its future" ("Não mais com a memória, mas com o seu futuro", in free translation from English), which this year was part of the parallel program of the 59th Venice International Art Biennale.

"Path to the stars" was also presented this year at the 12th Berlin Biennale of Contemporary Art.

The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation describes that the film "follows the journey, from dawn to dusk, of an ex-fighter in the Angolan liberation struggle, as she travels by boat along the banks of the Kwanza River, the birthplace of the kingdom of Ndongo, a pre-African colonial tributary to the Kongo kingdom, created by subgroups of the Ambundu, and led by King Ngola".

"A metaphor of a feminine place that crosses different times and spaces, a woman with a serene face attentively observes the nature that surrounds her, while her body slowly merges with the water currents of the river. Several characters appear throughout this journey: a shadow, an old woman and a child, soldiers who try to read their future along the lines of a birth chart of Angola, and an astronaut, all of them spinning their stories in the breath of the river", reads the description.

The screening of the film is scheduled for 6:00 pm, in room 1 of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation headquarters building, followed by a conversation with Mónica de Miranda, curator Gabriela Salgado, researcher and cultural critic Kitty Furtado and architect and curator Paula Nascimento.

The book launch, "no longer with the memory but with its future", at the end of the session, will feature an autograph session by Mónica de Miranda.

This initiative has free entry, "by collecting a ticket on the same day, from 10:00 am", with "a maximum of one ticket per person".
