"The United States appreciates the strong bilateral relationship between the two countries and hopes to continue the strategic dialogue and cooperation", can be read in the note of the head of the North American diplomacy.

"I commend Angola for its economic reforms and diversification efforts, and I applaud your commitment to fighting corruption and holding accountable those who profited at the expense of the Angolan people," adds Blinken.

Recalling that the world continues to respond to the challenges posed by the covid-19 pandemic, the secretary of State reaffirms his shared commitment with Luanda towards health security and regional stability.

Angola celebrates this Thursday 46 years of independence, proclaimed on 11 November 1975 by the first President, Agostinho Neto, as a national holiday.
