The Association of Judges of Angola (AJA), the National Union of Public Prosecutors, the Union of Officials of Justice of Angola, the Union of Legal Technicians of the Attorney General's Office and the Installation Commission of the Union of Court Employees Supreme were the signatories of the protocol.

The memorandum, valid for two years, has as its axes the claim component and a contribution to the improvement of the justice system in Angola, especially in the field of training of sector technicians, as well as the contribution of the signatories to the approval of the budget for the judiciary.

"We understand that we have developed our activities in defense of the judiciary, the interests and rights of all classes that operate in the justice system individually, and so we decided to sign a protocol that will unite us so that we can carry out the activities of a joint way", said this Tuesday the president of AJA, Adalberto Gonçalves.

Speaking on the sidelines of the protocol signing ceremony, which took place in the UNTA-Sindical Confederation's main hall, in Luanda, Adalberto Gonçalves underlined that the concerns of operators in the sector converge.

"The ultimate interest is to improve the functioning of the justice system and, therefore, we have common interests and, therefore, we decided to join this protocol that we signed today," he stressed.

The improvement of salary and working conditions, the need for new infrastructure, means of transportation, and medical assistance are among the various concerns that are publicly presented by the justice operators in Angola, a situation that has already given rise to strikes and demonstrations.

In addition to the solidarity aspect, the protocol, explained the president of AJA, also focuses on improving the technical conditions and infrastructure of the justice services, always in the sense of giving "contribution without forgetting the improvement of the operators' personal conditions" .

"And he is also versed in solidarity, support, whenever a partner is carrying out an activity individually", noted Adalberto Gonçalves, also a judge of law.

For his part, the secretary general of the Union of Legal Technicians of the Attorney General's Office (PGR), Elias Pinto, praised the "inclusive aspect of the protocol, which seeks common resolutions of the concerns of the class".

Elias Pinto also described the difficulties faced by technicians in the sector he represents, lamenting the "lack of professionals, namely magistrates and officials, both in the courts and in the PGR".

"Because, since 2010 there has never been a public tender for technicians and at that time those who do exist are overloaded, without, however, being paid due to this workload", lamented Elias Pinto.
