Sodiam opens a store in Luanda. Diamonds and other polished jewels in Angola fill exhibitors

As of this Wednesday, Luanda has a store for the exhibition and sale of jewelry and diamonds. The space is a partnership between Sodiam and the Indian multinational KGK - responsible for the investment - and is located in the newly opened Hotel Intercontinental Miramar.

The opening of the space was marked by an exhibition of jewels and diamonds explored, polished and worked in Angola, taking place within the scope of the events that mark the 45th anniversary of the country's independence.

In a statement sent to VerAngola, Sodiam says that with the opening of this store, it reinforces its position in the diamond value chain, in which it is the only marketing channel, supervisor and responsible for promoting polishing activity in the country.

In this way, the company says that, simultaneously, it continues the work it has been developing to attract credible private investors, "that can contribute to the development of the diamond sector, not only in cutting, but also in the jewelery area".

In addition to the exhibition and sale of jewels and diamonds, Sodiam will also share with visitors relevant information about the polishing industry, about the industrial units in operation and about the development of the works at the Saurimo Diamond Development Pole, as well as about investors who have already closed investment contracts to settle there.

"This is another investment that demonstrates Angola's commitment to the sharp development of the value chain of its diamond sector, which will be as prosperous as we can extract the diamonds, cut them and integrate them into the international jewelery industry. The store, opened in partnership with KGK, demonstrates Sodiam's interest in taking new paths and that foreign investors recognize the potential of our country in this sector of activity ", says Eugénio Bravo da Rosa, president of the company's Board of Directors.

In turn, the chairman of the Board of Directors of KGK, Navrattan Kothari, emphasizes the process of installing his factory in Luanda as being extremely important to consolidate the relationship between his company and Angola. "The factory, which we successfully opened in February last year, also in partnership with Sodiam, allows us to be here today to show the other side of our activity - the design and manufacture of highly-designed and valuable jewelry. objective is to continue with this partnership and with the investment in Angola and in its diamond sector, becoming a partner with value and relevance ".

It should be remembered that this is already the second phase of the partnership relationship established between Sodiam and KGK, after this multinational opened in November last year a diamond cutting unit in Luanda. This unit, which is a cutting and polishing factory, in which 200 direct jobs were generated, has the capacity to process 8000 carats of diamonds per month.

Founded in India in 1905 by Shri Kesrimal Ji and Shri Ghisilal Ji Kothari, born in the city of Jaipur, KGK developed under the leadership of the family patriarch, Navrattan Khotari. Today, this multinational conglomerate employs 14,000 professionals and has offices, cutting and marketing units in Asia, America, Europe, Africa, Russia and the Middle East.
