João Lourenço had not so far made any statement about the death, which witnesses and his family attribute to the police, contradicting the official version of the Américo Boavida hospital, which points to "corporal offense" with "blunt unspecified object".
"I am the young João Lourenço": this is how the President presented himself before the audience of more than a hundred young people at the meeting where 19 representatives of various sectors, associations, political formations and activists will speak.
The head of state focused on the "difficult moment" that Angola is experiencing due to the economic and financial crisis associated with the low price of Angola's main export product, oil, as well as the country's high level of foreign debt, aggravated by the challenge of the covid-19 pandemic.
"In this context, it is natural that the concerns of young people will increase," he said, considering that this age group will be one of the most difficult, such as lack of employment or housing shortages.
João Lourenço stated that the meeting with young people serves precisely for them to make their concerns heard directly to the power, being a way to manifest themselves, an alternative to the protests in the street.
This is the third edition of the President's dialogues with youth representatives, after having passed through the provinces of Bié and Zaire.
