Vice President recognizes talent of the authors of "Jerusalema" choreography

Bornito de Sousa, vice-president of the Republic, received this Tuesday Adilson Maíza, the young dancer, choreographer and founder of the group "Fenómenos do Semba". The dance group became a worldwide sensation for having created a choreography for the song "Jerusalema Ikavalami" from the South African DJ Master KG.

At the meeting, the vice-president took the opportunity to highlight the talent of these young people and encourage the group: "The audience was an opportunity for the Vice-President of the Republic to convey a message of encouragement and recognition of the capacity and talent of young Angolans", can be read in a note published on the website of the vice-presidency.

According to the note, Bornito de Sousa "was informed about the good phase and the projects and ambitions of the Angolan group, whose talent was proven and had worldwide recognition".

Adilson Maíza welcomed the vice-president of the Republic who, he said, "took good note" of everything he exposed about the project.

The person in charge of the group has already made known some ambitious plans for the future and that one of the projects he wants to accomplish is the "creation of a dance academy". He also considered that this meeting with Bornito de Sousa is a sign of the "strength of success that the group is having".

Adílson revealed that even the author of the song when he saw the choreography made in February of this year by the group Fenômenos do Semba "was amazed and wanted to meet the authors".

In September, the creator of the song, Master G, admitted that the success of his song was due to the video of the group of young Angolans. The song was created in 2019 and in February of this year the group published a video dancing to the sound of "Jerusalema", in the backyard and with a plate of food in hand. The video became viral and currently has over 14 million views.
