Angola will host the African cycling championship in 2026

In approximately two years, Angola will host the African Cycling Championship. The announcement was made by Mohamed Bashir, secretary general of the African Cycling Confederation, who announced that Angola will host this continental competition in 2026.

Quoted by Angop, the secretary general, who did not provide many details about the continental competition, said that the organization is already working to ensure that the event is successful, encompassing more than twenty countries, and added that Angola was chosen by the confederation to host the event.

Bashir was speaking this Wednesday, as part of the presentation of the national and international teams that will begin, this Thursday, to compete in the 3rd edition of the 'Alberto Silva Pepino' bike Tour of Angola.

The race starts in Moçâmedes (Namibe) and, according to a note from the provincial government of Namibe, the prologue on Thursday morning of the tour takes place "on a five kilometer route on Avenida Eduardo Mondlane".

"146 cyclists representing Angola, South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, São Tomé and Príncipe, DRC and France participate in the race", says the note.

The first stage has "the 130 kilometer Namibe-Lubango open circuit" reserved for Friday.
