The President highlighted the fact that the team coached by Portuguese Pedro Gonçalves has achieved four victories in four games in the qualifying phase, which already earns it classification with two games to play.
“Four games, four wins, is a real feat. We are at CAN in Morocco. Congratulations to the players, coaches, and the entire coaching staff, who fought hard and knew how to make the most of our capabilities. Angola is proud of you”, he said.
José Carlos Guimarães, vice-president of the Angolan Football Federation, also highlighted the importance of the classification achieved, only with victories and without depending on any opponent.
“Right now, we are all happy. It is a moment of joy and satisfaction for all Angolans for the victory, which for the first time placed us, naturally, without having to depend on anyone, without having to bite our nails, in the final phase of the CAN. At this moment, the feeling is of mission accomplished. In fact, the mission is not yet finished, we still have a double journey in November”, he stated.
Regarding the final phase of CAN, the leader guaranteed that the federation will begin to prepare for participation, so that a good result can be achieved.
“The idea is that we create the logistical and operational conditions, all guaranteed with due anticipation, so that we have a better performance in this CAN, compared to what we had in the last championship", he explained.
In Morocco, on loan from Niger, the Angolans' goal was scored by Zini, in the first minute of the game, allowing them to consolidate their lead in Group F, undefeated, with 12 points.
CAN2025 will be played between December 21, 2025 and January 18, 2026, in Morocco.
