Angola beats Niger and secures qualification for the final phase of CAN2025

The Angolan football team, coached by Portuguese Pedro Gonçalves, secured qualification for the 2025 African Cup of Nations (CAN) on Tuesday, after beating Niger 1-0 in the fourth round of Group F.

In Morocco, Niger's borrowed home ground, the Angolans scored a goal in the first minute of the game, allowing them to consolidate their leadership of Group F, unbeaten, with 12 points.

With this victory, Angola qualifies for the African competition for the 10th time in history, the second time under Portuguese coach Pedro Gonçalves, who made history by becoming the first Angolan coach to win four consecutive games in a qualifying phase for an African competition.

Angola will play again on 11 November, against Ghana, in Luanda, and will culminate the qualifying phase for the African Cup of Nations against Sudan, on the 15th of the same month, in Sudanese territory.

In the same group, Sudan, who also beat Ghana 2-0 this Tuesday, at home, is second, with seven, while the defeated team is third, with two. Niger is last, with just one point.

The CAN2025 will be held between 21 December 2025 and 18 January 2026, in Morocco.

In addition to Angola, Morocco, Egypt, Algeria, DR Congo, Cameroon, Burkina Faso and Senegal have already secured their qualification for the final phase.
