The position is expressed in a statement by the FPU on the political situation in Angola, read by the platform's coordinator and leader of the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA), Adalberto Costa Júnior.
"These murders are an act of desperation by the regime in the face of the overwhelming wave of support from Mozambican citizens, particularly the youngest, for the democratic alternation movement in Mozambique," said Adalberto Costa Júnior.
Adalberto Costa Júnior was accompanied by the deputy coordinator of the FPU, Abel Chivukukuvuku, from PRA-JA Servir Angola, Filomeno Vieira Lopes, from the Bloco Demático, and Francisco Viana, a member of civil society, who are part of this political platform created at the time of the elections general 2022.
For the FPU, this double homicide "is also confirmation of the victory of Venâncio Mondlane, who rightly claims to be the winner of the October 9 election and is also a public confession that Elvino Dias was considered intrepid and determined as a lawyer, who held a strong evidence of fraud and that it would be a key piece in the fight for electoral truth that bothers the regime".
"The United Patriotic Front urges Angolan institutions and the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) to speak out about the attacks on life, the restrictions on freedom of expression and the devirtualization of electoral truth", said Adalberto Costa Júnior.
This political platform expressed solidarity with the Mozambican people, "in the certainty that their fight for democratic alternation" is also the fight of Angolans "and that of all African peoples, for freedom, development and social justice".
In turn, Francisco Viana, coordinator of the Nova Angola civic project, called on the president of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, to comment on the situation in Mozambique.
According to Francisco Viana, Mozambique is going through a situation that Angola has already gone through: "the problem of vote theft, a problem of state terrorism".
"Mr President of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, your father was governor in Mozambique, you are a man who always says he is from Mozambique, have you forgotten about Mozambique? Or do you think that Mozambique has to have state terrorism what is happening right now?" asked Francisco Viana.
