General State Budget for 2025 enters parliament until October 30th and is voted on until December

The General State Budget (OGE) for 2025 will enter parliament by October 30th, informed the National Assembly, which says that the diploma will be sent for a final global vote by December.

The National Assembly, in a statement to which VerAngola had access, revealed that the members of the Economy and Finance Commission (5th Specialized Working Commission) approved, this Thursday, its activity plan, among which the discussion and voting on the OGE law proposal for next year.

"The members of the 5th Specialized Working Committee, under the leadership of deputy Aia-Eza da Silva Trozo, approved today [Thursday], the 10th, their activity plan, with several actions, in particular the appreciation, discussion and voting of the proposed law for the General State Budget for the 2025 financial year", says the note.

Thus, the diploma will enter parliament "by the 30th of this month and will be submitted to a final global vote by December, after all procedures for its approval have been completed".

According to the statement, the activity plan foresees, "in addition to the assessment of various diplomas and other responsibilities" of the 5th Specialized Work Commission, observation visits to projects with socioeconomic impact in five provinces, namely, Luanda, Benguela, Huambo, Uíge and Cuando Cubango, with emphasis on the Lobito Corridor and Okavango-Zambezi projects.

"As part of parliament's supervisory role, deputies will continue with parliamentary hearings, with consultations with the ministers of Agriculture and Forestry, Industry and Commerce and Energy and Water scheduled for this legislative year", the note also adds.

"Exchange visits, to exchange experience, with parliaments from around the world, especially Portuguese", are also planned.

Among the various actions of this fifth commission, says the document, it is also planned to implement "seminars relating to the promotion of local content in the oil sector, the main phases of preparing the General State Budget, as well as the role of parliament in approaching legislative packages on the implementation of the Paris Agreement, NDC's, within the framework of climate change".

It is worth remembering that the opening of the parliamentary year is scheduled for next Tuesday and will have as its highlight the speech on the State of the Nation, to be given by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.
