The initiative was considered this Thursday, during the 9th Ordinary Session of the Council of Ministers, held in the Meeting Room of the Presidential Palace, under the guidance of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço.

This project is part of a Presidential Decree that, once approved, will allow the monitoring of indicators of gender inequality and women's rights.

With this measure, the aim is to respond to the national and international commitments made by the country in relation to promoting gender equality, says the government in a statement.

During the session, the Executive also analyzed the Balance Report on the Execution of the National Development Plan 2023-2027, referring to the first half of 2024. The report highlighted that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) recorded an estimated growth of 4.6 percent in the first quarter and 4.1 percent in the second quarter of this year.

According to the document, this growth was largely driven by the continuous increase in national food production, which has contributed to the slowdown in the monthly rate of change in the consumer price index.

Furthermore, the report highlighted the results achieved in several sectors, including social areas, promotion of national production, infrastructure, construction and public works, highlighting the importance of the actions implemented throughout the first half of 2024.

In the sphere of foreign policy, the Council of Ministers analyzed and approved several cooperation instruments, such as the SADC Protocol on Employment and Labor, and the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Angola and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs from China.

Among other approved agreements, the mutual visa exemption protocols with the Governments of Nicaragua and Panama stand out, as well as the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Angola and Toyota Tsusho Corporation in the field of health.
