The rhythms of Semba, Kizomba, Kilapanga and Kadimbuende will be presented to the public by the musical group, which will perform songs in Portuguese, Kimbundu, Umbundu and Lingala in a 120-minute performance, according to Jornal de Angola.
Created two years ago, the musical group includes Zé Maria Boyoth, who will be joined by Bagueta on drums and backing vocals, Francisco on keyboards and backing vocals, Djasten on guitar and backing vocals, as well as Patrick on guitar, Jeremias on percussion, GuiGui on bass guitar and Helvy on classical guitar and backing vocals.
According to Jornal de Angola, the Angolan delegation will perform five shows, one in Kigali, another in Musanze (the city that will host the 3rd edition of the Ikirenga International Festival, which is sponsored by UNESCO) and one for the Angolan community living in Rwanda.
This performance outside the country's borders is important for the band because of the international experience, but also because of the opportunity to exchange with other bands and promote Angolan rhythm and music.
Speaking to Jornal de Angola, Zé Maria Boyoth said that the group has performed in Luanda, adding that this trip to Rwanda is very important, not only because of the international experience, but also because it allows "that exchange with local and foreign bands" and the promotion of "our rhythm, our music", as well as the establishment of "cultural relations".
For Zé Maria Boyoth, events like this festival also represent opportunities for artists to make an appeal for solidarity among Africans, as well as to promote peace in the region.
