MED will implement an education system with one teacher and two assistants

A new teaching model will be implemented by the Ministry of Education (MED), this academic year, on an experimental basis, in the fifth and sixth grades. The new model concerns single-assisted teaching, which consists of the inclusion of a full professor and two assistants.

In the first phase, the aforementioned system – as part of the 2023-2027 curriculum transformation – will be implemented "in 144 selected schools in the country's 18 provinces, eight in each province", informs the MED, in a statement to which VerAngola had access.

It is also planned "a reduction of subjects, from nine to seven, integrating curricular knowledge, in the model linked to STEM areas (science, technology, mathematics, engineering and arts)", adds the note from the guardianship.

According to the deputy general director of the National Institute for Assessment and Development of Education (INADE), Vita Goveia Emanuel, the experimental phase will last five years, with the last year being reserved to evaluate the "impact of the change".

In turn, Caetano Domingos, director of the National Institute for the Training of Education Staff, clarified that the curricular transformation underway in the country is driving the MED "to design a new teaching management model, based on the operationalization of teaching programs and from the perspective of knowledge integration".

The ministry also informs that it began, this Monday, the training of 36 primary education teachers, "from the 18 provinces of the country, who will be trained with methods of integrating curricular knowledge". The training, adds the note, will last five days, and will be provided by national and foreign trainers, within the framework of the Saber Mais Program.
