The protest came shortly after Duarte Pacheco, who is preparing to end his three-year term, gave the opening speech at the meeting, which takes place this week in Luanda.
Before the musical moment that would follow the ceremony, some parliamentarians passed in front of the tribune, where the Portuguese deputy, the President of the Republic and the president of the National Assembly were, expressing indignation and shouting "shame on you", an agitation that lasted a few minutes.
A source linked to a delegation told Lusa that the speech went down badly not only with representatives from Palestine, but also those from Iran, Kuwait, Syria, Algeria and South Africa as they considered the speech "biased".
"(Duarte Pacheco) spoke about Israel's right to defend itself, but he did not speak about Israeli crimes against civilians, especially children," said the source.
This Monday, Duarte Pacheco addressed the topic of global conflicts, highlighting Ukraine and Israel and considered that Angola is the right country to talk about peace.
Around 1500 deputies from 130 countries will be in Luanda this week, gathered under the motto "Parliamentary Action for Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions", to participate in the 147th General Assembly of the IPU.
