Portuguese emigrants in Angola sent 17.66 million euros in August

Portuguese emigrants in Angola sent 17.66 million euros in August, which represents a drop of 1.73 percent compared to the 17.97 million euros sent in August 2022.

Portuguese remittances rose 0.65 percent in August, to 315 million euros, while foreigners working in Portugal sent 50.4 million euros outside the country, representing an increase of 2.8 percent.

According to data from the Bank of Portugal, emigrants sent, in August, 315.08 million euros, which is an increase of 0.65 percent compared to the 313.05 million sent in August last year.

Conversely, foreigners working in Portugal sent 50.42 million euros to their countries of origin, which represents an increase of 2.86 percent compared to the 49.02 million sent in the same month last year.

With regard to Portuguese-speaking African Countries (PALOP), there is a drop of 1.02 percent, as in August last year the amount sent to Portugal was 18.52 million euros, which compares with the 18.33 million sent in August this year.

Remittances from Angola represent almost all of this value, with Portuguese emigrants in that African country sending 17.66 million euros, which represents a drop of 1.73 percent compared to the 17.97 million euros sent in August 2022.
