"With a view to recognizing the citizens of the province of Luanda who, through individual and collective actions, directly participate in the development of the capital, the provincial governor of Luanda, Manuel Gomes da Conceição Homem, paid homage, this Wednesday, 11th October, the musician Carlos Lamartine, the musical group As Gingas do Maculusso and teacher Rosa Roque, for their commitment and dedication to culture and citizenship", reads a note from GPL, to which VerAngola had access.
During this Wednesday, the governor held meetings with the three honorees. In the audience with the musical group As Gingas do Maculusso, their trajectory was shared. "Authors of several musical hits that mark different generations, As Gingas do Maculusso, represented by Paula Daniela and Josina Stella, shared their journey full of stories, emotions and reflections throughout their 40-year career during the audience" with Manuel Homem, adds the GPL.
In turn, at the meeting with the governor, professor Rosa Roque talked about "her contribution to Angolan culture".
From the audience with Carlos Lamartine, "it is highlighted the presentation of several social projects and the demonstration of his literary vein outside of musical composition, with the production of books, with emphasis on 'Semba Perfil Histórico', 'Ser Poeta em Harmonia e Silêncios ' and 'Alma de Babel'".
The governor of Luanda, speaking on the occasion of the tribute ceremony, indicated that the distinction is an instrument that aims to "encourage other citizens to contribute to Luanda".
"Coincidence because As Gingas completes 40 years of existence, in a period in which Carlos Lamartine also highlights his trajectory as a singer by performing more than 60 years of music, naturally we coincided the moments to pay homage to teacher Rosa Roque, As Gingas and then also Carlos Lamartine", he added.
In turn, Carlos Lamartine was "satisfied" for "having been honored with this honor, which is not just another one, it is the first of its magnitude" that he has received at the GPL facilities and added: "I think it is an honor very high this tribute is paid to a musician with a sense of appreciation for musicians, artists, in general."
In turn, Rosa Roque said that "Luanda is a very inspiring muse", so new songs could emerge "around Luanda". At the time, she also took the opportunity to say that it was an "absolutely unexpected ceremony" and that she did not think they would be "so particularly honored", thanking GPL.
Finally, As Gingas, in the voice of Paula Daniela, considered that the distinction is "a symbol of great responsibility".
The honorees were entitled to a diploma of merit and a piece of glass, according to Angop.
