Angola and Portugal assess implementation of the Bilateral Protocol on National Visa Facilitation

Visa facilitation was discussed this Wednesday by Angola and Portugal, at a meeting that took place in Luanda.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mirex), to which VerAngola had access, the "V Meeting of Focal Points of the Bilateral Protocol on Visa Facilitation between the Republic of Angola and the Portuguese Republic, took place in the morning this Wednesday", at the ministry's Afonso Van-Dúnem Mbinda amphitheater.

At the meeting, the note added, Angola and Portugal "proceeded to evaluate the implementation of the Bilateral Protocol on Facilitation of National Visas, exchange of statistical information", as well as "constraints in scheduling and obtaining visas between the two countries".

The implementation of the Agreement on Mobility between the Member States of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries was also analyzed.

"The meeting was led by Ambassador Júlio Maiato, Director Europe of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Angola and by Francisco Alegre Duarte, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Portuguese Republic in Angola, in the presence of Ambassador Maria Filomena do Rosário Neto António, Director of Institute of Angolan Communities Abroad and Consular Services, the new consul general of Portugal in Angola, Rosa Lemos Tavares, among other employees of Mirex and the Portuguese Embassy" in the country, the statement said.

The note ends by saying that relations between the two countries "are excellent" and have "developed on the basis of a broad historical, cultural, political, economic and commercial context".
