"In a phase of intense competition between companies and constant changes in the sector, the start of the strike demonstrates a lack of dialogue, above all an inability to carry out the great national goals and interests of different classes of Angolan workers", highlighted UNITA.
For the largest opposition party, "the strike of TAAG pilots, men and women responsible for the transport and safety of millions of citizens, proves the failure of the national policy of cadres, with regard to their valorization through fair remuneration and with competitive social and economic benefits".
In this sense, the UNITA parliamentary group "demands the Government to assume a posture aligned with the interests of pilots, families, companies and the satisfactory and sustainable resolution of the claims of pilots and other TAAG workers".
"The UNITA parliamentary group expresses its solidarity with the TAAG pilots' union and appeals to the President of the Republic, as holder of the executive power, to resolve this situation as soon as possible", concludes the note.
It was the second time in two days that UNITA had commented on the strike at TAAG.
On Thursday, UNITA's parliamentary group asked for an urgent meeting with the Minister of Transport to obtain clarification on the pilots' strike, given the impact of the stoppage.
The TAAG pilots' union started a strike this Friday that is expected to last 10 days.
UNITA intends to investigate the causes that led to the strike, as well as the "difficulties that the executive and the company's board of directors have had to resolve the concerns presented, in the context of the claim book, by the pilots' union" of the carrier national airline.
The president of the pilots' union, Miguel Prata, told Lusa this Friday that the membership level is 100 percent, with members demonstrating at Luanda's international airport.
Miguel Prata mentioned that the eight-point claim book was delivered in June this year, and since then the parties have been at the negotiating table several times, focusing on the first point only, on the salary readjustment, without having agreement has been reached.
Last Saturday, TAAG announced in a statement that it had created a "contingency plan to minimize the impact of the stoppage".
