Speaking at the Cocoa and Honey Symposium and Fair, the Secretary of State for Forests also took the opportunity to inform that the Executive's strategy is to continue with the mass production of cocoa and honey and admit that with the work done this production could boost the country's economy, writes Angop.

Stressing that Angola has more than three million family farming units, the official said that if everyone gets involved in the production of honey, they will surpass some statistics from other countries.

Regarding cocoa, André de Jesus Moda explained that they are still governed by colonial legislation and that they will work to "meet market demands".

"As far as the legislation on cocoa is concerned, we are still working with a colonial one, which is why, at the moment, within the scope of the restructuring of the ministry, we are going to work on agrarian policies and their subsequent instruments to correspond with the demands of the market", he clarified, quoted by Angop.

Jeannette Seppen, ambassador of the European Union in Angola, said that they will continue to help Angola to diversify the economy, considering that agriculture and products 'made in Angola' are important for this purpose.

She also took the opportunity to highlight the "Caminho Conjunto" program, carried out with the Executive, which has collaboration in the areas of security, education, investment and trade, writes Angop.

Cited by Angop, the ambassador also said that the European Union is interested in strengthening trade and economic relations between member states and Angola.

For his part, Somet Santiero Jean-Marie, ambassador of Côte d'Ivoire, who highlighted the fact that it is the first power in Africa with coverage of 40 percent of the world's needs, referred to the need to sign a cooperation agreement between the two countries, as they can help Angola to achieve favorable cocoa production.

He also referred that they presented an offer to the coffee center for that purpose: "We made an offer to the coffee center to have a joint cooperation for cocoa production in Angola", he said, quoted by Angop.

The event takes place with the theme "divulgando os tesouros desconhecidos de Angola". It started on Wednesday, October 5th, and runs until this Thursday, October 6th, at Palácio de Ferro, with the participation of several producers and national beekeepers of cocoa and honey.
