According to a SIC note, the 36-year-old woman is a street vendor at the Kikolo market and Hoji-Ya-Henda warehouses, in Luanda, and served as a "mule" to transport the drug, which was concealed in seven packages of detergent, inside two suitcases.
The suspect arrived in Luanda on a Ethiopian Airlines flight, but SIC found that the trader was recruited as a "mule" in Brazil, on the São Paulo/Addis Ababa/Luanda route, and if successful, she would receive a reward of US$400. .
"After the disembarkation of passengers, through operational action within the scope of the inspection of luggage, the two bags were subjected to intrusive verification, by the technicians of the AGT [Administração Geral Tributária], in which it was determined inside these packages, respectively, three to four packages with a detergent label, containing, concealed inside, a substance in a white liquid state, which, submitted to the colorimetric test, by experts from the Criminalistics Laboratory, resulted in a positive result for the cocaine-like drug, weighing 14,392 kg", refers to the SIC note.
In August, SIC announced the seizure of 164 kilograms of cocaine hidden in 11 boxes of frozen chicken, in a 40-foot container, from Brazil.
In this case, the biggest seizure of cocaine this year, two foreign citizens, a Brazilian and a Palestinian, responsible for the importing company, were arrested on suspicion of involvement in the criminal action.
In the current year, there is also the death, in Angola, of two "mules" by ingestion of cocaine-type drug capsules.
