Ricardo de Abreu defends an economically viable and sustainable TAAG

TAAG needs to build its governance, operational management, commercial and accountability models, with a view to becoming a viable and sustainable company at an economic level. The idea was defended by Ricardo de Abreu, Minister of Transport, who indicated that the purpose of the flagship airline is progress.

"Progress is made with skills and the company is known to have them, but we need to incorporate them, without prejudice, without arrogance, without disrespecting others and without intrigue," he said.

Cited by Angop, the head of the Transport portfolio said he believes in the company's human resources, which employs around 3000 people.

"We are aware that there is talent at TAAG, but it is necessary to awaken it, recognize its merit and value it, because the path is difficult", he asserted.

The minister's words were uttered during the presentation ceremony of TAAG's new board of directors, in which Ricardo de Abreu took the opportunity to explain that the process of choosing the current board was very well analyzed and considered, having undergone a rigorous investigation that counted with the support of specialized entities, writes Angop.

According to Ricardo de Abreu, several challenges will still arise, making it necessary to "find solutions for the national company" and ensure that it has "a generation prepared for the challenges of an airline in the 21st century".

Remember that on the 20th of this month, João Lourenço dismissed TAAG's board of directors. On the same day, a new council was elected, presided over by Ana Francisca da Silva Major.

Also cited by Angop, Eduardo Fairen Soria, recently elected as chairman of TAAG's executive committee, stated that the company needs to make a transition to digital, in order to compete in the international market.

"The initial measures are the transformation of TAAG. Nowadays companies live off the button, under the domination of the Internet, but the company is still far behind in digital technology," he said.
