Ana Francisca da Silva Major was elected chairman of the board of directors, non-executive, Eduardo Farein Soria, chairman of the executive committee and Rui Paulo Pinto de Andrade Teles Carreira for the position of non-executive director.

Custody Gabriela Pereira Bastos, Lisa Mota Pinto, Steve Taverney Azevedo and Isabel de Sousa Godinho were elected executive directors.

The Ministry of Transport states, in a press release, that the new TAAG board was elected this Wednesday at a general meeting of shareholders, due to the transformation from a public company to a public limited company.

The President, João Lourenço, dismissed this Wednesday TAAG's board of directors, basing the decision on the need to implement the company's restructuring plan and its strategic objectives.

According to a note from the President's Civil House, the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Helder Preza, the chairman of the Executive Committee, Rui Carreira, five executive directors and their non-executive directors cease to function.

TAAG was hit hard by the effects of covid-19 on the circulation of people, having registered a 75 percent drop in the number of passengers transported, and accumulated losses in the order of 372 million dollars in 2020.

According to the note from the ministerial body, the transformation of TAAG appears as "an essential effort, on the part of its still majority shareholder, the State, to allow the company to reposition itself as a strategic company of national and continental reference".
