PR regrets “untimely death” of member of the Economic and Social Council

President João Lourenço lamented the “untimely death” of Albano da Silva Lussati, member of the Economic and Social Council, saying that he received the sad news with “a feeling of regret”.

Albano da Silva Lussati, 67, who was also president of the National Union of Peasants of Angola (UNACA), died on Saturday in Luanda from illness.

In a message of condolences, released this Sunday, the President of the Republic laments the death of his advisor, praising his "solid training" in cooperative management and agribusiness.

According to the statesman, "his premature departure represents a loss for the country and leaves his family, friends and co-workers desolate", having addressed to the bereaved family "the most heartfelt condolences".

The Economic and Social Council was created by João Lourenço, in 2020, as a "new space for dialogue with society", which includes different figures from civil and business society, where contributions are made on the country's socio-economic situation.
