João Lourenço discussed peace and stability with a Central African counterpart

The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, received this Thursday in an audience his counterpart from the Central African Republic (RCA), Faustin Archange Touadéra, and the two leaders addressed the situation of peace and stability in the Central African country, reported the press.

:

Faustin Archange Touadéra arrived in Luanda in the early afternoon and was received at the presidential palace by his Angolan counterpart, with whom he met in private, according to Angop.

The current political situation in the RCA, which last Friday announced a unilateral ceasefire by the army in the conflict with rebel groups, focused the conversation between both heads of state.

According to Angop, Faustin Archange Touadéra left the Angolan capital at the end of this Thursday afternoon and did not make any statements to the press at the end of his visit.

João Lourenço, also acting president of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region, has been regularly briefed by his Central African counterpart on the situation in that country.

According to data available on the official website of the General Staff of the Armed Forces (EMGFA), 188 Portuguese soldiers are engaged in the RCA within the scope of the UN mission in the country (MINUSCA).

As part of the European Union's (EUTM-RCA) mission of training and advising security and defense forces, another 20 soldiers are engaged.

On 30 September, the 10th National Detached Force (FND) for the RCA, composed of 180 soldiers, received the National Standard, and is expected to be operational from 15 November.
