The challenges imposed by covid-19 led the education sector to reinvent itself and find solutions to combat the lack of face-to-face classes. With this in mind, five teachers from the Telecommunications Institute of Luanda (ITEL) decided to create the platform. Developed in only three months, AVITEL is now preparing to start virtual classes.
At this moment the last adjustments are being made so that the classes will start on Monday, indicated Claúdio Gonçalves, project coordinator. "The teachers are doing the registration of the students in the platform, through the database of the institution to create the classes", revealed, quoted by Expansão.
Consisting of an administrative menu - that allows its users to solve administrative issues - a menu for teachers and one for students, AVITEL manages to host a total of 40 students per class.
The project coordinator also explained that teachers are able to "create their classes and, through them, upload all the necessary material to teach the classes. They can also arrange meetings with students and follow up the tasks. They can see the student who accessed the platform, at what time the activity ended and evaluate him".
AVITEL also has a chat room that allows teachers and students to always be connected and thus clarify doubts. In addition, the platform also integrates a system for correcting the exercises.
The platform can be used by any ITEL student. For that, the student only has to have access to the Internet and enter the site www.itel.gov.ao/avitel.
In April a pilot experiment of the platform was carried out and 120 teleclasses were given.
According to the Expansion is on the table the possibility of the platform being sold to private schools and offered to public institutions.
