Ministry of Environment orders closure of Chinese plastics factory

The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Environment (MCTA) forced the closure of a Chinese plastics factory on the outskirts of Luanda after complaints of "pollution and discomfort" associated with the company's activity.

:

According to a statement released this Wednesday by the MCTA, the Dong Neng factory was closed on October 12 by the National Directorate of Environmental Impact Prevention (DNPAIA), after becoming aware of complaints from residents of the Zona Verde neighborhood, street 44, in the Municipality of Belas-Luanda and those responsible for the company did not respond to the Ministry's notification.

"The legally defined procedures were fulfilled, inspection visit to the company's facilities on 05/10/2020, notification to those responsible to assess the legality of the activity performed on the premises. DNPAIA applied the measure of closure of the facilities", refers in the communiqué.

DNPAIA will investigate the activities carried out at the "DONG-NENG, Comércio Geral e Prestação de Serviços" facilities, in order to ascertain the "environmental legality, as well as the damage caused to the environment".
