PGR called several individuals linked to Sonangol to clarify the case involving the transfer of hundreds of millions of dollars to accounts controlled by businessman Carlos São Vice

te, owner of the AAA group, which for almost a decade held a monopoly on insurance for oil activities.

According to a PGR document to which Lusa had access, the hearings began on Wednesday and will continue this Friday and on the 4th and 5th of October, with managers of the financial area and several subsidiaries of the oil company being convened.

Sonangol had already declared that it was cooperating with the justice agencies in providing information, to clarify the outlines related to the creation and extinction of the AAA insurer.

"It is in the public domain that the national oil company was at the origin of the creation of the aforementioned insurance company, a fact that is sufficient to carefully follow the process recently launched around it," Sonangol said at the time in a statement.

Carlos São Vicente, married to a daughter of the first president, Agostinho Neto, was constituted accused on suspicion of involvement in crimes of embezzlement and, among others, influence peddling and money laundering, after his account was frozen in Switzerland with 900 million dollars.

The buildings of the former insurance company AAA, as well as the IU and IKA hotels, as well as other buildings in the city of Luanda and 59 percent of its participation in Standard Bank Angola have already been seized by PGR in the context of this process.
