According to a statement from the Cabinda government, which VerAngola had access to, the meeting between the provincial governor and the general director of the Lebanese company took place at the invitation of the governor herself.
"The provincial governor of Cabinda, Suzana Abreu, invited the Lebanese businessman Kamal Allao, general director of the company Alamir, Lda, to a meeting in the local government meeting room. The invitation was part of an initiative to attract investment and promote the economic development of the province", the statement reads.
It was during the meeting that the Lebanese businessman expressed an interest in investing in Cabinda, particularly in the "areas of civil construction and basic sanitation".
On the occasion, the company's general director assured that the "financing could vary between 100 and 250 million dollars".
Kamal Allao also said that the start of investment in the province depends on "how the money can" get there, as well as on what his partners have to say about this interest: "The start of our investment in Cabinda depends on how the money can get here, and on our European, South African and Chinese partners, who have a say in our intention".
The provincial government also highlights that "the Lebanese businessman has been working in the construction sector in the Republic of Congo Brazzaville for 20 years, bringing experience and know-how that can contribute significantly to the development of the province of Cabinda".
