Prémio da Paz Ceramics prepares to produce 25 thousand bricks/day with an eye on export

The Prémio da Paz ceramics factory, located in Bié, is preparing to produce around 25 thousand bricks per day. The company – which is currently assembling two lines, the main of which is intended for the production of bricks, where they hope to “make more than 20 thousand bricks”, that is, between 25 and 30 thousand bricks – also has its sights set on exports, intending to get the materials to the markets in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Zambia.

In terms of preparations, one of those responsible said that the equipment is almost all ready. "Right now we have the preparation ready, we have the production area ready, we also have the specialty factory in operation, it is already producing brick, the kiln is also ready, we have the dryer ready, this equipment is only at hopes that automation and electrification will be completed", he said, speaking to Televisão Pública de Angola (TPA).

According to the person in charge, two lines are being set up, with the main one being dedicated to the production of bricks and the second specialized one, where the production of 5000 bricks per day is expected for construction.

"We are setting up two lines, we have the main line which is brick production, on this line we are going to make more than 20 thousand bricks, we are talking about between 25 and 30 thousand bricks. The second line which is specialized, we are going to make five thousand bricks/day for (...) construction materials", he added.

With a production capacity of 30 thousand bricks per day, the company also plans to export it to neighboring countries, such as the DRC and Zambia, within the framework of the consortium created by the Government through the Benguela Railway (CFB), says the TPA. The person responsible considered this to be "an added value" for the company because, considering the new configuration of the CFB, they will also be able to "get the product to neighboring countries".

This is a requalified project, in charge of the Social Security Institute of the Angolan Armed Forces with Portuguese consultancy, it has two factories, including the specialized one that will not only manufacture bricks but also tiles and vaults. Furthermore, the project also has a pottery component.

"Pottery is made up of two distinct situations: the first can be the mass production of plates or bowls, whatever; the second has a more artistic component, it is baked in the same oven, for this it is necessary to arrange people around here, artists, valuing the Angolan artist, the art of painting on a plate, for example, is as important as a painting on a canvas or a painting", explained another person in charge, speaking to TPA.

According to TPA, the first tests have already started, the results of which were satisfactory, with the numbers pointing to a production of more than 5000 bricks per day.

Regarding the raw material, the person in charge says they resorted to the Central Plateau: "The clay is of very good quality, we were careful to choose the best clays from the best place in Angola, which is the Central Plateau, the clays are eight kilometers from the factory".

According to TPA, the two manufacturing units, which created more than a hundred direct jobs for young people in the province of Bié, should be opened in the next few days.
