From today onwards, any investor will be able to buy and sell bonds through any financial intermediary, a Bodiva member.
Valentina Filipe said that Sonangol's entry into the regulated securities markets, particularly the private bond market, “is the result of the competence that Bodiva and other players in the capital markets have, in particular the Capital Market Commission , as regulator and supervisor, have been demonstrating to companies, convincing them of the numerous advantages of acting as issuers and investors”.
“The Sonangol bond issue represents a significant metric of the development of the Angolan capital market and an indicator of its relevance for the growth of our public and private business sector, as it materializes the possibility of diversifying sources of financing”, he said.
The official also highlighted the fact that the public subscription offer had registered a higher-than-expected demand, “thus demonstrating the interest of families and companies to increasingly diversify their investment portfolios, being a likely indicator and result of the growing level of financial literacy of investors”.
The demand for the 7.5 million bonds had a ratio over supply of 111.94 percent, with 1486 investors, mostly individuals (1410) and 76 companies, with 4.98 million bonds allocated to these, in an amount of 49.8 billion kwanzas, and 2.5 million bonds to individuals, worth 25.1 billion kwanzas.
