Standard Bank Group launches Asset Management Company in Angola

The Standard Bank Group launched Standard Gestão de Activos (SGA), a non-bank financial institution whose corporate purpose is the structuring, marketing and professional management of Collective Investment Organizations (ICO) and the provision of investment consultancy services. SGA, wholly owned by the Standard Bank Group, through its holding company in Angola, Standard Holdings Angola, was presented on Wednesday, in the late afternoon, at the Marina Baía Yacht Club, Ilha de Luanda.


Investment consultancy and marketing of investment fund units managed by you are the services offered by Standard Gestão de Activos. The first service is aimed at institutional investors and involves advice on investment portfolios in securities. The sale of investment fund participation units is intended for the majority of investors who wish to invest in the capital market through a specialized entity that makes one or more investment funds available to them that allow the investor to make his or her selection of according to your risk profile.

"Standard Gestão de Activos' main pillars are the experience and knowledge that the Standard Bank Group has in the area of asset management in other countries in Africa, the robustness of its capital, well above the minimum regulatory requirements, the excellence of its team, as well as adapting its systems to future market development", said António Catana, CEO of Standard Gestão de Activos.

SGA has a professional and multidisciplinary team with proven experience in the markets and the financial sector, specifically in investment fund management, banking, stock exchanges, the Ministry of Finance and the Capital Market regulator.

Standard Gestão de Activos intends to play a relevant role in the development and dynamization of the asset management market in Angola, which when compared to other countries in Africa, has a "huge growth potential", through innovation, either with the introduction of new products that currently do not exist on the market, either through the direct marketing of investment funds with its clients, through its client portal or its app.

SGA intends to be the partner in accessing capital market opportunities for all Angolans, regardless of where they have their bank accounts domiciled, through its own marketing channels or through the establishment of partnerships with other entities.

Investing in the capital market through investment funds offers the following main benefits: access to professional management in terms of term, rates and profitability, and reinvestment in a timely and regular manner; tax simplification, since the capital repaid is liquid, that is, the income for the investor is exempt from IAC, and the fund is also exempt from IAC, but subject to industrial tax of 10 percent; lower associated charges and greater negotiating power; portfolio diversification through a single investment (acquisition of UPs) and risk mitigation (dilution among all participants); transparency, by adapting the fund to the investor's profile (according to investment policy).

Present at the SGA launch event were Mário Augusto Caetano João, Minister of Economy and Planning, Ottoniel Santos, Secretary of State for Finance and Treasury, Ludmila Dange, administrator of the Capital Market Commission, Odair Costa and Kalussevico Miguel, administrators from Bodiva.
