Angola beats South Africa and marks passage to CHAN’2023 with historic result

In a game played at Orlando Stadium, in Johannesburg (South Africa), this Sunday, Angola was superior to the South African counterpart winning by four balls to one and stamping its passage to CHAN’2023, with a historic result.

In the first minutes of the game, South Africa opened the scoring with a goal from Nxumalo. In the 39th minute, the 'Palancas Negras' drew level with an own goal by South African Lebusa.

In the second half, the national team turned around the result, having thrashed the opponent by 1-4 with goals from Gilberto, Jó Paciência and Danilson.

With this victory, the national team qualified for the CHAN'2023, in Algeria. According to Angop, this will be the fourth time that the 'Palancas Negras' will participate in the competition.

The last participation of the national team in this competition took place in 2018, where the selection was eliminated in the quarter-finals. In the 2011 edition, in Sudan, Angola won the 'silver' after having lost by three balls to zero in the final against Tunisia, writes Angop.
