MPLA promises to preserve “unconditionally” Agostinho Neto’s thinking

The MPLA urged Angolans, especially young people, to promote activities that enhance the patriotic education of citizens and reiterated its commitment to “unconditionally preserve” the political-ideological thinking of António Agostinho Neto.

The Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), in a declaration alluding to the centenary of António Agostinho Neto, highlights its "selfless commitment" to the national liberation struggle.

"For the celebration of the centenary of the Nation's Founder and National Hero, Dr. António Agostinho Neto, on 17 September, the Political Bureau of the MPLA Central Committee reiterates its commitment to unconditionally preserve the political-ideological thought that guided its action and selfless commitment to the national liberation struggle, which culminated in the proclamation of Angola's independence, on November 11, 1975", it reads.

António Agostinho Neto, the first Angolan president and former leader of the MPLA, proclaimed Angolan independence on November 11, 1975.

According to the MPLA, António Agostinho Neto had a legacy projected in the African and world context, which is why he is remembered for his "dedication to the cause of political and social justice, the development of families and society".

António Agostinho Neto, who "has conquered, through the aforementioned actions and his own merit, the quality of one of the best and most important sons of the Angolan nation", developed actions that emanate from his dimension as a statesman and human, with "a strong connection to the intellectuality and ".

In the spirit that "the strength of the MPLA is based on the strength of the people", the Political Bureau exhorts Angolans, "with particular emphasis on youth, in the sense of promoting activities that enhance the patriotic education of citizens".

Bearing in mind, he points out, "the urgent need to face and respond, in an adequate way, to the challenges and commitments aimed at building an Angola with peace and development".

The government party also praises the participation of Angolans in the general elections held on 24 August, in which they demonstrated a "civic and patriotic sense", which led to the reappointment of its president and President of Angola, João Lourenço, for the second term.

The MPLA also expresses "unconditional support" to the President of the Republic, encouraging him to "remain firm and determined" in the implementation of actions aimed at consolidating the democratic rule of law, stability and economic development.

With "permanent focus" on the maxim "the most important thing is to resolve the people's problems", concludes the Political Bureau of the "comrades".
