A statement sent to VerAngola said that each "school complex includes eight classrooms, a multipurpose field for sporting activities, a fence, an administrative area, a water tank and toilets (including toilets for people with special needs)".

The classrooms are equipped with desks, cabinets, blackboards, as well as office furniture.

According to the note, each school is capable of accommodating 840 elementary school students per year, "and in total its construction involved a funding of 1,260,000 dollars".

The construction work was carried out by the NGO Rise Angola, in 10 months, the statement said.

The inauguration ceremony, which took place Wednesday, was attended by the Governor of Benguela province, Luís Nunes, and representatives of ANPG, BP Angola, Sonangol P&P, Sinopec and Equinor, companies that are partners in the blocks.

This project "demonstrates how much the national oil sector and the agents responsible for its dynamism can contribute to create a positive impact on the life of local communities. Education will always be one of the aspects to be supported and improved in our country, which is why we are really pleased with the inauguration of these two schools," considered the ANPG board of directors.

Adriano Bastos, Senior Vice President of BP Angola, indicated that "access to education is crucial for the development of any nation and, for this reason, one of BP's focuses within its social responsibility strategy in the countries where it operates".
