Government sets maximum increase of 15 to 25 percent for private and public-private education

The Government has set maximum limits for increases in tuition fees and emoluments in private and public-private education between 15 and 25 percent for the academic year 2021/2022.

:

According to a joint executive decree of the Ministries of Finance, Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation and Education, private and public-private institutions of pre-school, primary and secondary education are limited to a 15 percent increase, while those in higher education will not be able to make adjustments in excess of 25% in the value of tuition fees.

Increases above the established maximum limits require express authorization from the Pricing Authority, adds the diploma.

Institutions may make this request, accompanied by the cost structure, as well as the income statement, presentation of the proposals for tuition fees that they intend to practice and the economic-financial justification for this amount, this rule not being applied to entities that have already obtained express authorization.

Applications must be made within 30 days after the diploma enters into force, that is, October 14, and authorized adjustments can be made up to 30 days after the beginning of the academic and academic year 2021/2022.

Educational institutions must inform students, parents and guardians at least 30 days in advance.
