National Exams are going to be implemented in the country

The country will implement, this school year and in a pilot format, the realization of national exams. The information was provided by the Minister of Education, Luisa Grilo, on the sidelines of a visit to some schools in Moçâmedes, Namibe.

The minister said that for now the process is in the preparation phase: teams are being formed that will prepare the exams and will work on its implementation in the 6th, 9th and 12th grades.

Cited by Angop, the Education minister said that the process is being carried out with special care and rigor, admitting that there have been several obstacles.

Luísa Grilo stressed that one cannot "continue to work based on speculation" and that it is necessary to "know what each province or municipality offers in terms of learning".

Despite admitting that there are differences in what concerns education in the different areas of the country, the minister indicated that there is a minimum of contents that are mandatory at a national level.

The national exams will serve to "measure this national minimum, since their adaptations should be measured based on continuous assessment, since the curriculum itself contemplates 70 percent national and 30 percent local responsibility," she added.
