A road accident causes four deaths and five injuries in the province of Kwanza Norte

A road accident caused four deaths and five injuries in the municipality of Lucala, Angola's Cuanza Norte province, according to the local Civil Protection and Fire Service.

According to the spokesman for the Civil Protection and Fire Service of Cuanza Norte, Hélder Milagre, the accident occurred when a vehicle, loaded with cement, coming from Luanda, with final destination in Uíge province, collided with a bridge, causing death of its occupants.

Hélder Milagre said that the accident occurred late on Wednesday, with the victims being imprisoned in the vehicle.

"The vehicle unfortunately lost its way in the same region where the children were bathing, leaving the river, and as it was carrying cement, as soon as the vehicle was designed, the material it was carrying hit the children, one of them, seven years old, unfortunately met death," said Hélder Milagre, speaking to public radio.

The three occupants of the car died immediately, while one of the injured children, all from the same family, ended up dying in hospital.

In turn, the doctor Eduardo Pina, who assists the wounded, said that the hospital registered the entry of five patients with cranial trauma problems, of which two were admitted to intensive care, one of whom died in less than 24 hours. .

Car accidents are the second leading cause of death in the country, after malaria.
