The President of the Republic will begin an official visit to Spain on Tuesday, with a meeting with the king, then meeting with the head of the Spanish executive, who visited Angola in April, according to the presidency.

:

In a statement, the press office of the presidency announced that João Lourenço, who concluded his mission in New York, where he participated in the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN), is leaving the North American city of Domingo for Madrid, " for a two-day State visit to the Kingdom of Spain.

"The visit will start next Tuesday, in the morning, with a meeting at Zarzuela Palace with His Majesty King Filipe VI of Spain," the statement said.

According to the same note, the President then met "with the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez", who visited Angola in April.

At the end of Tuesday morning, João Lourenço and the delegation accompanying him will be invited to a lunch offered by the king.

The following day, the President will visit "infrastructure and institutional objectives, [based] in the Spanish capital, Madrid, with which this diplomacy action abroad will be concluded, which included Washington, New York and Madrid", the note adds.

In early April 2021, the leader of the Spanish Executive visited Angola and considered that the country "is committed to peace" and "has more and more respect and influence" in the resolution of regional conflicts through dialogue, "converging with the spirit" of the Spanish State.

"Angola is committed to peace and has increasing weight, respect and influence in opening solutions based on dialogue for the resolution of conflicts in the region, we spoke [with the Angolan President about] his mediation role and they are spirits that we share with Angola," said Pedro Sánchez, in Luanda.

Speaking to journalists in the gardens of the Presidential Palace, after signing four legal instruments with the Government, Sánchez reaffirmed that Angola "is a priority country" in the policies of the Kingdom of Spain in Africa.

"And I am also happy to know that Spain is a priority partner for the diversification of the Angolan economy. It is true that Angola has great potential that offers great opportunities for the relaunch of its economy," he pointed out.

At the time, the Republic of Angola and the Kingdom of Spain signed four cooperation agreements in the fields of air transport, agriculture, fisheries and industry.

President João Lourenço welcomed, on the occasion, the signed agreements, with a view to the products being processed in Angola and sold on the international market.

For the head of state, Sánchez's visit to Angola "renews the friendship and cooperation ties that have lasted for decades" between the two countries, according to what he told reporters at the time.

"I am, above all, satisfied with the fact that I know that, within the framework of its economy's internationalization policy, Spain has chosen our country, Angola, to implement its internationalization strategy," stated João Lourenço.
