The position is expressed in the final statement of the 4th ordinary meeting of the Political Bureau of the People's Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), held Friday by party leader João Lourenço.

The President, João Lourenço, requested, Thursday, the National Assembly to review some matters of that law, in order to "strengthen in some areas the instruments that ensure greater equality between competitors, healthy competition, smoothness and electoral truth, as part of the permanent implementation of the democratic rule of law".

"The Political Bureau recognized the performance of the leadership of the parliamentary group and the deputies of MPLA, in the framework of the discussions on the Law of the amendment to the Law of the Official Electoral Register and the Law of Amendment to the Organic Law on General Elections, having praised the spirit of openness with a view to reaching possible consensus," the statement said.

In the statement, MPLA's Political Bureau appeals to the unrelenting patriotic sense of the political formations, with parliamentary seat, in the approval of the legislation on the electoral process, "in the framework of the deepening of the democratic rule of law.

In a press conference on Friday, the opposition parliamentary groups said they were available for a "greater consensus" in discussing, dealing with and voting on the law, which has already been returned by the Minister of State and head of the civil house of the President of the Republic, Adão de Almeida, to the National Assembly for its review.

The law was approved as a whole, with 126 votes for the MPLA, 52 against and one abstention from the opposition, and after that the opposition parties united to appeal to the President not to promulgate the law, because it contains norms that "attack the transparency of the elections".

The Political Bureau was informed about the Official Electoral Register, resulting from the punctual revision of the Constitution, welcoming the institutionalization of the One Stop Shop for the Public (BUAP), which aims to speed up and facilitate the massive access of citizens to the Identity Card and the Citizen's Card.

With a view to the effective implementation of the BUAP, with an extension to the consular registration of Angolan citizens residing abroad, it was recommended that efforts be redoubled in the creation of logistical and infrastructure conditions, as well as the training of human resources.

During the meeting, aspects linked to the internal life of the party were also analyzed, including the memorandum on the proposed guidelines for changes or adjustments to the MPLA Statutes, recommending the continued discussion by militants, sympathizers and friends, as part of the organic process of the VIII ordinary congress of the party, scheduled for 9 to 11 December this year.
