Angola with a 3.30 billion kwanza budget surplus in the second quarter of this year

The country closed the commercial accounts for the second quarter of this year with a surplus of 3.30 billion kwanzas. The positive balance was caused by the behavior of oil prices, the main product exported by Angola.

Between April and June of this year, exports grew by 146 percent compared to the same period in 2020. In turn, imports increased by about 48 percent.

Data from the National Statistics Institute (INE), released earlier this week and cited by Jornal de Angola, indicate that during the second quarter of 2021 the list of main exports was led by fuels (94.1 percent). Diamonds were also among the main exports (4.5 percent).

China was the main destination for Angola's exports, with 64.1 percent, followed by India with 6.9 percent and Singapore, with 3.6 percent.

In terms of imports, fuel (93.6 percent), machinery, equipment and appliances (21.9 percent), agricultural products (15 percent), among others, were the most important.

The data also show that Angola imported mainly from China (15.8 percent), Portugal (12.2 percent) and India (6.7 percent).
