PRA-JA Servir Angola lawyers prepare final allegations for Constitutional Court

The team of lawyers from PRA-JA Servir Angola, Abel Chivukuvuku's political project, is working on the presentation of the last extraordinary appeal for the legalization of the party, accepted by the plenary of the Constitutional Court last week.

The information was provided this Thursday to the Lusa agency by Xavier Jaime, member of the technical office of support to the installation committee of the Party of the Angolan Renaissance-Juntos Por Angola (PRA-JA) Servir Angola.

According to Xavier Jaime, the request of the extraordinary appeal to the plenary of the Constitutional Court was accepted a week ago, at this time the lawyers are working on the allegations to file the request with the competent organ of the Constitutional Court.

"Everything is going, let's say, well. Last week, the lawyers were notified that the appeal was admitted, they are now working on that appeal, but they are also trying to clarify a set of precedents that they [lawyers] consider not to be in accordance with the law," he said.

For Xavier Jaime, "the most important thing is that the appeal was admitted.

The process of legalizing PRA-JA Servir Angola has been dragging on since August 2019, with successive 'failures' by the Constitutional Court, alleging irregularities in the documentation presented by the installation commission.

The coordinator of the commission, Abel Chivukuvuku, has accused the ruling Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) of making the legalization of PRA-JA Servir Angola unfeasible, but guarantees that it will not give up on legalization.

Of the more than 32,000 signatures required, the court found more than 25,000 to be non-compliant, and 6670 were accepted, below the 7500 required by law for the legalization of a political party.
