In a completely opposite match to the one in which South Sudan eliminated Angola from the 2023 World Cup (101-78), the national team's aggressive defense secured control of the match.
At halftime, Angola was already leading by a comfortable 10 points (37-27), although in the final stage the South Sudanese fought back and took the match to the final moments.
In the final seconds, not suitable for cardiac arrest, the Angolans secured the victory – by a narrow two points – against one of the heavy favorites to win the competition.
This victory guarantees the national team sole leadership of Group C, with six points, the result of three wins in three matches, and a ticket to the quarterfinals of the competition.
Angola returns to action on Thursday at 7:00 pm against the winner of the match between Cape Verde and Tunisia.
