According to a statement from MultiChoice, the launch of the first Portuguese version of this channel is the result of a partnership between Moonbug Entertainment – owned by Candle Media – and MultiChoice.
Thus, the channel that has been entertaining African children in English since 2022, accessible since then to 21.7 million DStv subscribers in 45 African countries, went on air this Friday, in a Portuguese-language version.
Designed to entertain children and their families on a daily basis, the channel will offer all of its programs, including CoComelon, Blippi, Little Angel, Gecko's Garage, Morphle, and Oddbods.
Furthermore, according to the statement, the programs will also be available in Portuguese on the on-demand list for DStv subscribers.
"Children around the world grow up watching our content, and the Moonbug Channel provides learning and fun throughout the day," said Dilek Doyran, Head of Channel Partnerships EMEA at Moonbug Entertainment, expressing enthusiasm for the expansion of the partnership to bring this Portuguese-language channel to children in Angola.
"We are thrilled to expand our partnership with DStv to bring the Moonbug Channel in Portuguese to Angola, giving more children access to our fun and enriching content," he added.
DStv CEO Marcus Valdez, for his part, considered the launch of the Portuguese version of this channel a fulfillment of the promise of "offering a diverse range of fun and educational children's content."
"As part of our ongoing effort to enhance our customers' viewing experience and delight them with content that resonates with them, DStv is proud to announce the launch of the Moonbug Channel on DStv. This new addition delivers on our promise to offer a diverse range of fun and educational children's content, ensuring that our youngest customers can also be entertained," he said.
