In a statement, to which VerAngola had access, the municipal administration of Moçâmedes reported that the bays of Moçâmedes and Lucira are competing for the title of the most beautiful in the world.

"The bays of Moçâmedes and Lucira, in the province of Namibe, are candidates to be part of the group of the most beautiful bays in the world, according to the world association of the sector", the statement reads.

In this sense, a delegation from the World Association of the Most Beautiful Bays in the World (MBBW) is in Moçâmedes to check out the aforementioned locations.

"The president of that world association, Louis Thébault, carried out an on-site inspection of the locations that could be considered world references", the note states.

During this visit, the delegation was accompanied by the director of the Provincial Office for Culture, Tourism and the Environment, Pedro Hangula, the deputy municipal administrator for Technical, Infrastructure and Community Services, Lucas Fuca, the communal administrator of Lucira, Marília Inácio, as well as the representative of the association at Angolan level, Henriques Magalhães, and the Miss Angola Committee.

According to the statement, the applications from national bays will be evaluated based on their "fascinating landscapes, biodiversity, environmental wealth, history and inspiration for the communities".

According to the Jornal de Angola, in addition to the bays of Moçâmedes and Lucira, Baía dos Tigres and Tômbwa are also among the candidates.

This assessment of the national bays that are in the running to be included in the group of the 44 most beautiful in the world, which includes 25 countries from Africa, Asia, America and Europe, is a prelude to the first annual meeting of African bays – scheduled for 6 and 7 August, in Moçâmedes and where, according to the deputy vice-president of MBBW, Henrique Magalhães, the countries of Mozambique, Cape Verde, Senegal and Morocco will participate, with their delegations expected to arrive on Sunday.

In addition, the members of the committee evaluating the most beautiful bays in the world will travel on Tuesday to the Yona National Park, due to its unique adventure tourism potential, also known as the "Queen of Angolan Tourism".
