The construction of the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora do Monte da Caála dates back to 1927.
This sanctuary is located in Huambo, more specifically on Mount Mbandjela.
The chapel was built using granite and marble from Huambo and is located at an altitude of approximately 1990 metres.
At one time it was a strategic point during the war. However, it was only in 2004 that people began to look at the sanctuary and work began on restoring the chapel.
