Federation wants Girabola balanced and without withdrawals for financial reasons

The president of the Angolan Football Federation (FAF), Artur Almeida e Silva, urged teams this Wednesday in Luanda not to withdraw from the national championship for financial reasons and hopes for a balanced competition.

The manager said he had received assurances from the Girabola clubs that there would be no more withdrawals, as has happened in recent years.

“During the licensing phase of the teams, the club management assured us that there would be no more withdrawals, nor consequent imbalances. At FAF level, we have been bringing several dynamics to our football, both logistical and technical, so I believe that there will be no withdrawals”, he said.

The sports season starts on Saturday, with the Super Cup between Petro de Luanda and Bravos do Maquis.

The championship starts on September 13, with the three-time champion, Petro de Luanda, under the command of Ricardo Chéu, facing Desportivo da Huila, led by Paulo Torres, in a duel between Portuguese coaches.

The national football derby, between Petro de Luanda and 1.º de Agosto, takes place on the 13th round.
