According to the head of the demining brigade at the National Demining Center, Valdemar Chipangue, the accident occurred on Wednesday, when three minors were playing in the neighborhood, having found ferrous objects that they took to their homes, for later sale in houses weighing ferrous material. .
"Innocently, they manipulated the devices, thus causing an explosion, which caused five injuries. All are receiving medical care at Walter Strangway Hospital, whose health condition is stable," said Valdemar Chipangue, quoted by the Angolan news agency, Angop.
The official said that the device manipulated by the children were two anti-tank mine fuses, stressing that ten people died, in 2023, following accidents with explosive devices.
A week ago, a grenade explosion killed three children and injured six others in the province of Luanda.
The children found the object in a trash can and took it home, where the explosion occurred.
