According to a statement from the state-owned oil company, four companies participated in the tender for the revitalization of Paenal (Porto Amboim Shipyards), including implementation of the maintenance, repair and shipbuilding project, two of which were disqualified for not meeting the requirements.
Sonangol considered that the most advantageous proposal from a technical and economic point of view for the operation of this asset, included in the privatization program, was that of the consortium formed by Mota-Engil, Engenharia e Construção África, S.A. and Mota-Engil Angola.
The public tender for the concession to operate the Paenal facilities, a shipyard for manufacturing and integrating facilities for the oil and gas industry, was opened in December 2023 and ended on May 31.
As a shareholder, the national oil company intended to expand the scope of the company's activities, covering the repair, maintenance, manufacture of vessels and other related activities, according to a statement released at the time.
