The Consumer Price Index recorded an increase of 18.97 percentage points compared to the prices observed in the same period of the previous year (July 2023).
The "Food and non-alcoholic beverages" class contributed the most to the increase in the level, with an increase of 1.12 percentage points during the month of July, followed by the classes: "Health" and "Miscellaneous goods and services" (0.09 percentage points) and "Clothing and footwear" and "Furniture, household equipment and maintenance" (0.07 percentage points each).
We have to go back to May 2017 to find a higher level of inflation than that of July (32.58 percent), with the average inflation rate between 2001 and 2024 being 32.25 percent.
In Luanda, the year-on-year change was 42.19 percent, an increase of 29.21 percentage points compared to the same period of the previous year, with a monthly deceleration of 0.63 percentage points.
The National Consumer Price Index recorded a monthly change of 1.68 percent between June and July 2024, which represents a deceleration of 0.39 percentage points.
The "Health" class had the largest monthly price increase in July, with a change of 2.31 percent, with price increases also notable in the "Education" classes with 2.08 percent, "Hotels, cafes and restaurants" with 1.94 percent and "Food and non-alcoholic beverages" with 1.86 percent.
